Hello Students,
I hope that we are all figuring out this new flow of online school. It has been a learning curve for ALL of us. I am asking you to please check in with me, send me an email and let me know how everything is going. Let me know if you have any questions. Let me know what I can do to help. I just wanted to give you an update. We had a Faculty meeting today and it is looking like the earliest we may be back to school is April 13th, however, that could change at any time. For now, that's what I am going to plan on. I thought it would be best if I set some due dates for your online learning modules. So please read below. 6th and 8th grade PE classes: You should be getting your fitness testing logged under the fitness tile in WelNet. You should be recording your daily activity. THIS WEEK you should be logging your 5-day Nutrition Log. This is only expected to be done March 23 - March 27. WELNET ONLINE LEARNING MODULES due by the end of this week, 3/27 -Introduction to Student -Setting the Bar for Fitness -FITT to Train Intramurals: You should be logging your activity DAILY. (Mon -Fri) WELNET ONLINE LEARNING MODULES due by the end of this week, 3/27. -Introduction to Student -The Formula for Success

Please, please, please don't be overwhelmed with the WELNET Modules. Work on them 5-10 minutes a day and get through as far as you can over the course of our school closure. I currently have the closing date set as April 10th, the end of our grading term. However, that may be extended depending on how long our school closure lasts.
Your most important tasks will be your FITNESS TESTING (PE ONLY), ACTIVITY LOGS (PE & INTRAMURALS), and a 5 DAY NUTRITION LOG (PE ONLY). p.s. If you are having problems logging in. Make sure you are clicking on the LOGIN button and not the ACTIVATE button. Double check your STUDENT ID in the aspire grade book. It is 7 digits long. Make sure you are capitalizing your last name for your password. Hello again, are you feeling overwhelmed yet? I know I definitely am. Yesterday I got completely overwhelmed and didn't even know where to start. There was SO MUCH on my plate. I decided to break it down in to smaller steps and I ended up getting quite a lot accomplished. So TAKE A DEEP BREATH. You have totally GOT THIS! First off, almost everything you need will be found on the WELNET online PE Program found at www.focusedfitness.org. Your username will be your 7 digit student ID Password is your last name PE EXPECTATIONS: Complete your FITNESS TESTING that we were supposed to start on this week. Push-ups: Time for one minute, have a partner help with timing and counting. Remember to keep a straight plank, get your shoulders down below elbows at the bottom and fully extend your arms at the top. Record your score under the 5th term box on the FITNESS module of WELNET. Sit-ups: Time for one minute, have your partner help with timing and counting. Remember to touch your shoulder blades to the ground at the bottom and to come up in a straight vertical line at the top (shoulders above hips). Record your score under the 5th term box on the FITNESS module of WELNET. One Mile Run: If you can go to a high school outdoor track, this would be the easiest. It is 4 times around the track. If you need to go around your neighborhood or on a treadmill that is fine too. Some free apps that can help you measure the distance are https://www.mapmyrun.com/us/ or https://www.strava.com/, download to your smart phone, click start, run until it says you've gone 1 mile, click stop. Record your score under the 5th term box on the FITNESS module of WELNET. If you need help figuring out the distance please let me know. PACER Test: For this test you will need to mark off 20 meters. I found a free app called "Measure" that will allow you to measure the distance out. Super simple and even kind of fun. However, I think it will only allow you to do inches, so 20 meters = 787.402 inches. (Feel free to check my math) Once you have your 20 meters marked out, play the YouTube video found here, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yNbZ6Grm-Y&t=190s This is the sound recording that I use during class. If you can blue-tooth to a speaker to make it louder do that, if not you might want to hold your phone in your hand while you run so that you can hear it. Record your score under the 5th term box on the FITNESS module of WELNET. Other Expectations: When you login to WELNET you will see an ONLINE LEARNING Module. To the left will be your lessons. These will cover some of the other knowledge based components of fitness that we would normally cover in journals or just talk about. I would like for you to work on these at your own pace. If you would like to do a bunch of them in one day, great. If you would like to do a little bit each day, you can do that too. I will be able to track your progress on my end. If anything is confusing, not working, etc. PLEASE email me. I really don't want you to be too overwhelmed but I do want you to be held accountable for physical education related topics. I know it looks a lot different than class at school , but I think it will be awesome for you to learn these things. Activity Log: Under the ONLINE LEARNING module you will find a tab at the top labeled LOGS. Once you click the LOGS tab you will then need to click the ACTIVITY tab. Inside of that you will see a big red plus sign that says ADD ENTRIES. This is where I want you to keep track of your daily activity. (YES, I want you to continue to MOVE your body) You may count and log your fitness tests here, any activity that gets you moving. I would like you to do 10-20 minutes of physical activity each day at a minimum. You only need to log week days. You can skip the weekends, but are welcome to add those if you would like. Nutrition Log: This is for PE students only. You will access the Nutrition Log under the LOGS tab (just like the activity log). From 3/23 - 3/27 (that's 5 days) I want you to keep track of your daily nutrition. Once you have 5 days of nutrition logged you no longer have to fill out this log. (Unless you want to, your graph will look super cool!) Open Video Assignments Module: These videos will just give you some ideas for fitness. Follow along if you would like or figure out your own fitness. Just be sure to log activities on your activity log. There are also some exercise videos linked on my website. Click on the Exercise Videos link above. INTRAMURALS: When you login to WELNET you will see an ONLINE LEARNING Module. To the left will be your lessons. Hello Students,
We find ourselves in an interesting time. I hope that you are all staying well and of course staying active. Remember that having a healthy body can help our immune systems better fight viruses that we might catch. I am going to challenge you to exercise each day that we are out of school, even if it is for only 10 or 20 minutes. If you have a good intensity level even a short workout will give you a GOOD workout. We are going to be moving to an online PE/Intramurals format. This will include both physical activity and learning activities. We are going to use the WELNET platform for our class. Please click on the link below to access this program. Your username is your Student ID number, this should be 7 digits. Your password is your last name with the first letter capitalized. If you have problems accessing this program, please don't hesitate to email me. I probably talk too much about comfort zones. But it's true. Big things happen when you can get outside of that comfort zone. This can be physically, socially, mentally, etc. Go for it, I bet you might find some growth there.
